INTERNATIONAL teacher and educational consultant Paul Shewell, from Chepstow, is seeking sponsorship for a construction project at a school and orphanage in Ghana.

Paul said: “I have worked all over the world and have established close links with a school and orphanage in rural Ghana, initially through a local charity. This is a school in an isolated rural area where water and electricity supplies are very limited and erratic.

“I have visited the project, called Misthy Cee Educational Complex in the Ashanti Region of Ghana twice previously in 2010 and 2012 and I am about to visit again for a six-month voluntary placement.

“I am self-funding, but am hoping that local businesses and individuals may be willing to donate to the ongoing construction project at the school. They are extending the school to create new classrooms and a dining hall.

“Chepstow Garden Centre donated seeds to grow a sustainable garden and the Red Cross in Chepstow donated many school uniforms. Unfortunately, bringing goods into the country is hard as they are often seized and heavily taxed. For this reason money allows us to source materials locally, often at a cheaper price.”
