AT 104 years-old Hilda Pearcey still enjoyed blowing out the candles on her birthday cake – even if she couldn’t find a cake large enough to fit them.
Staff at Westbury Court, where Hilda has lived since 2012, helped her celebrate her day along with family at a tea party.
Born in Whitecroft, Hilda’s father Thomas was a Forest miner.
She moved to London to work for Shell Mex and BP as a catering manager where she was responsible for a team of people who produced some 500 meals a day.
As a youngster, Hilda was a talented high jumper as was her husband, Bill, who she met at church.
