IT was tough, but they survived. Team XXXL completed the gruelling 100km Oxfam Trail Trekker last weekend.

The boys all from Ross (and three of them Lerego brothers) came a creditable 34th out of 175 teams. Their impressive time was 27 hours and 28 minutes. The hike through the Yorkshire dales was very demanding with a 30mph wind and pouring rain through the night. Team leader Max inspired them to the end and the team are feeling rightly proud of the gold medal they were awarded. Unfortunately three out of the four of them picked up foot, ankle and knee injuries but after medical treatment were able to finish the whole trek.

The boys would like to thank their support team Jill Wardle, Kelly Young and Margaret Lerego who kept them fed watered and provided enthusiasm – and thanks to Hannah Lerego who kept a constant blog which can be viewed on Facebook page XXXL.

The team raised over £2,000 for Oxfam and are very grateful to all their sponsors, friends and family. Despite exhaustion the team are now thinking ahead to a new challenge – but will let the blisters heal first.
