A CALDICOT man says he has been "overwhelmed" by the support he has received from local people in trying to find his missing dog.
Chris Carter was walking his eight-year-old Beagle Billy on The Moors near the Second Severn Crossing when the much-loved family pet disappeared.
Search parties of up to 70 people have combed the area between Caldicot Pill and Severn Tunnel Junction railway station.
Mr Carter, of Fairfield Close, last saw the tri-coloured Beagle at around 6pm on Wednesday, March 26.
He said: "He just took off down the bank and towards the bridge. Somebody said he was just under the bridge and I went down expecting to see him but he had just vanished.
"Usually he comes back when his name is called."
"The support and community spirit from people in Caldicot has been amazing, overwhelming.
"We had about 70 people come out last Friday, people on the industrial estate have been looking at CCTV and men were sent from the Second Severn Crossing and we've had help from dog psychologists."
On Monday smaller groups searched an area in Caldicot and Rogiet based on sightings of Billy.
