THREE men who have been on bail since last May in connection with the death of Cinderford man Shaun James will not face any charges.

The decision not to proceed was taken after the Crown Prosecution Service reviewed the file of evidence.

The detective leading the case says the hunt will continue for the killer or killers of Mr James whose body was found in Steam Mills Road after being run over in 2002.

Detective Superintendent Steve Porter, of Gloucestershire Police, said: “We have been informed of the decision but haven’t yet been given the reasons behind it so our team will be meeting with the CPS later this week to discuss it.

“We’ve informed members of Shaun’s family and I completely understand their disappointment at this development.

“We have reassured them though that the investigation is not over and that we will continue to pursue any lines of inquiry that arise.

“The case is still active and I still firmly believe that one piece of information or just one phone call from someone in the local community could change everything.

"If you have information but haven’t yet come forward please call 101.”
