COMMUTERS using Lydney railway station now have a better chance of getting their vehicles off the road after an extension to the car park was opened.

More than 100 spaces have been added and five disabled bays marked out in the main car park.

The extension was an initiative by Gloucestershire County Council working with Lydney Town Council and the rail industry.

The county council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for transport, Cllr Nigel Moor (Con, Stow-on-the-Wold) joined Lydney county councillor Alan Preest and town mayor Bob Berryman to mark the opening last Thursday (February 16).

Cllr Preest, said: “This is great news: missed train connections should soon be a thing of the past for residents who have previously struggled to park due to limited capacity.

“I hope that this will give us a platform to make the case for increased trains stopping at Lydney.”
