A LYDNEY man and woman escaped a collision with minor injuries on Sunday.

The pair was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital after their Audi A8L collided with a Mercedes ML 320 at the entrance to the National Diving Centre, at Tidenham, about 2.10pm.

A 52-year-old man from Chippenham, who was driving the Mercedes, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A 48-year-old woman who was the front seat passenger also went to Frenchay Hospital with a fractured arm and other minor injuries. Two children in the car suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed while a collision investigation took place.
