Correct me if I'm wrong. With reference to the recent campaign I thought that the acronym HOOF stood for, "Hands Off Our Forest", not "Hands Off Our Forest this Government", so could someone please point this out to the land-grabbing Cinderford councillors.
Although a passionate carer for this 'working' Forest I never became involved with this campaign as it appeared to me this was a left wing instigated action; an action to enable the Forest to stay in public control so that in future it would be easier for, politically motivated and greedy councillors to obtain areas of the statutory Forest of Dean from, a future government whom they hope would be sympathetic, and would then set up another quango (like the now scrapped, ruinous RDA) and other like bodies at the "ministry for giving money away".
To my mind and I'm sure to a lot of other people, the good folk of the Forest of Dean were coerced into this fight for underlying reasons.
So now how about a campaign against the proposals for this Cinderford Northern Arc, a scheme that will take a huge chunk of the (guarded in law) Statutory Forest, to build, "a college."
What for? We already have an excellent one that's more than adequate. 'The inevitable housing estate'. What for, (Labour councillors seem obsessed with building more and more houses).
'A Hotel'. What for? There won't be any tourists. Soon they will all be living here.
'A new road.' What for? To kill more animals and other wildlife. But then again if we don't have this waste of public money on an unwanted, unnecessary college and hotel etc there'll be no need for another road .
So I urge people to look deeper. Do not be hoodwinked by destructive, over ambitious and over zealous local councillors.
