PARVA Farm Vineyard in Tintern has won the Welsh Wine of the Year trophy for its Dathliad 2013 sparkling wine.
The name means ‘celebration’ and owners Judith and Colin Dudley are certainly celebrating at the news.
Judith told the Review: “We sent five wines to be judged and won four awards. We’ve been making sparkling wines for a number of years. This wine uses the French grape Seyval blanc which does really well here in Britain. It is from 2013 so it’s still quite young and we hope it will keep improving as it ages.
“We won a silver award for the red wine we sent which we were very pleased about as Wales isn’t really noted for red wines.”
The English and Welsh Wine of the Year Awards, run by the United Kingdom Vineyards Association, were held in Wales this year and, as a result, the Welsh Wine of the Year Trophy was sponsored by the Welsh Government.
The vineyard has previously won a number of national and international awards for its wines.
