My name is Dave Organ and I am writing a book detailing the activities of my grandfather David Organ who was the president of the Forest of Dean Miners' Association for 20 years – 1919 to 1939.
He led the Forest miners during the turbulent times of the 1921 and 1926 strikes and was eventually victimised for those activities by not being able to get a job again in the pits.
This photograph was taken at the Forest miners' annual Demonstration Day at Speech House field in July 1921 where the guest speaker was Ernest Bevin.
Those already known on the photo are: Front row (second from left) is James Wignall, local MP; third from left is Ernest Bevin and fourth from left is David Organ, president. Back row: Fourth from left is W.H. Booth, miners' agent.
In order to complete my work, I would appreciate it if any of your readers could identify any others in the photograph. I know it's nearly 80 years ago but someone may recognise either a grandfather or great grandfather or a great uncle etc. – Dave Organ.
