I HAVE the honour and the privilege of writing the 'Roll of Honour' for the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) 1939-1945 (1946-1947) – the first ever written memorial dedicated to the 165 members and the four attached personnel of the Regiment who sadly never came back.

Amongst their number is Trooper Desmond Pearson, 3973932 3rd Troop, 'D' Squadron; 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) Royal Armoured Corps.

The following facts are known: Born: 13th May 1921, Salford, Manchester and Lancashire; resident: Lancashire, Gloucestershire; died: 5th August 1944, aged 23.

Son of Joseph and Isabella (née Horsley) Pearson, of Lower Broughton, Salford, Lancashire; husband of Mrs H.B.G.E. Pearson, of 'Henleaze' Park Hill, Woolaston, near Lydney.

Remembered with honour at Tilly-Sur-Seulles War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Grave ref VII.C.S.

I am trying to trace relatives and descendants of Desmond (or anyone who knew the family) within the local area for information which will be included in Desmond's entry in the Roll of Honour, as well as any known war/church memorial upon which Desmond has been commemorated. – D.J.
