I am writing in response to recent implications that I was not aware or valued the training provided by Learn Direct (formerly TABS) at the Belle View Centre Cinderford.

There is nothing further from the truth - I have encouraged people to use the facility and enjoy the full range of services on offer, members of my own family have benefited from the positive approach from the staff there.

In fact I encourage people to take opportunities that are on offer   from many training providers, especially if they are in receipt of benefits.

The difference between these and the new  UNITE learning centre at the Miners' Welfare Hall in Cinderford is that it is open to people in and out of work from across the Forest and is only available to people that have joined the Union.

There is no conflict, just increased access and opportunity for people to benefit from another training provider coming to the Forest to encourage and assist people to further their skill levels whether they are in work or preparing for work.

The courses can also benefit retired union members that wish to improve their access to the world of computers which they may  never have had the opportunity to do before.
