TRIBUTES have been paid to pub landlady and co-founder of Chepstow Radio Alison Beasley following her death.

Ms Beasley, who was known as Al, ran three of the town's pubs over the years and was well-known for her support of the local music scene.

Ms Beasley, who was 53 and grew up in Chepstow, died last Friday (March 21) at St Anne's Hospice in Newport of cancer.

She ran Pye Corner, which incorporates the White Lion and Smirnoff Bar, in White Lion Square and was previously landlady of the King's Head and the Five Alls.

She was also chair of the Chepstow Licensed Victuallers' Association.

Writing on Chepstow Radio's Facebook page, co-founder Alex Stanley said she was "true to herself and lived her life to the full."

He wrote: "Alison and I got to know each other on Twitter many years ago but our paths didn't really cross until we started talking about setting up a radio station about this time two years ago.

"The result of those discussions was, of course, Chepstow Radio.

"Alison was well known around Chepstow: performing in bands, running some of the pubs, and of course Pye Corner, and in doing so became a central part of life in the town.

"In fact, she was a true helper, touching so many people's lives giving them the support and belief to follow their dreams and explore their own ideas, and then championing them when they did.

"Working with her on Chepstow Radio has been an absolute pleasure, but sadly this will no longer be so.

"I know that there are no words to say how much her friends and family will miss her now she's gone, as will we all at Chepstow Radio."

Ms Beasley leaves a partner, Aston, and two children. Her funeral will take place next Tuesday (April 1) at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Bulwark prior to cremation at the Forest of Dean Crematorium. Donations in lieu of flowers for St Anne's Hospice can be sent to funeral directors Philip Blatchly and Son, 5 Station Road, Chepstow.
