TWO years ago, at the age of seven, Trinity Cole made a promise to help children who have lost their hair.
Since then she has not had a haircut – until last Thursday (May 30) when she made the long-awaited trip to the salon.
Nine-year-old Trinity, of Pillowell, had seen her hair grow to more than 15 inches in length over the last two years.
She went along to the Hairway salon in Lydney on Thursday afternoon with mum Sue to have lengths of hair cut, ready to be sent to the charity.
Trinity decided to grow her hair after finding out about the charity which creates wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical treatment, through conditions such as alopecia and burns, at no cost to the families.
Mum Sue said: “She found out about Wigs for Kids and decided that she wanted to do something to help. Two years is a long time, but she stuck at it and her hair has grown to just over 15 inches.”
Although it sounds easy, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Trinity.
Sue said: “It takes a lot to keep it nice – Trinity couldn’t actually reach all the way down to brush it.”
This is not the first time Trinity has helped others – she enjoys doing ‘acts of kindness’ to bring happiness to others.
Mrs Cole added: “Last Christmas she had an ‘acts of kindness’ calendar and she did things like collecting blankets for the homeless.
“I’m very proud of what she has done.”
Trinity gave the thumbs up to her new look but has not decided if she wants to grow her hair back.
As well as the donation of hair, she is also hoping to raise around £100.
