TV STAR Pauline Quirke was at Marriott St Pierre Hotel and Country Club to launch a massive 5,000 balloon race as part of the hotel's charity fun day in aid of the NSPCC Full Stop campaign.

The hotel opened its doors to let as many people as possible enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of activities including hotel tours, musical entertainment, children's treasure hunt, a barbecue, a golf equipment and clothing sale and reduced leisure membership offers.

Marriott St Pierre was hoping to raise more than £5,000 for the NSPCC Full Stop campaign by selling £1 balloon tags for each of the balloons to be released.

Marriott St Pierre's regional sales manager, Gill Venning, said: "We are delighted that Pauline Quirke is lending her support and launching our massive balloon race.

"All of the associates at the hotel were working hard to sell as many balloon tags as possible with the help of friends, family and local community groups. The person whose balloon reaches the furthest distance and is returned will win a weekend away in any UK Marriott.

"We have also had a lot of support from local groups and businesses including Mitel, Chepstow Racecourse, Osborn International and The Racecourse Garage (Suzuki), which shows that there is a strong community spirit."
