Berry Hill 25, Old Redcliffians 22
IN a nail-biting final minute all could have been lost for Berry Hill after a match dominated by the home side.
They held their own with a confident performance in the first half and were leading 25 to 15 until the last minute challenge. But determined Berry Hill just managed to hold on to progress to the semi-finals.
Secretary Lee Osborne said: "We had the lead for most of the game, but it got a lot closer at the end when the Old Redcliffians came back in the last minute with a try and a conversion.
"It's hard to identify individuals in a game with such a good team performance.
"Shaun McRoberts scored two tries – he played a good game after struggling with his form and fitness in recent matches."
Scrum half Lee Osborne also scored a touch down and full back Aaron Ryder came back in fighting form after a string of disappointing games to take a penalty, a drop goal and two conversions.
They are now just two matches away from the final at Twickenham.
"We've got a 50/50 chance of getting through to the finals – someone's got to get through and won't be playing against anyone in a higher league," said Osborne.
They are hoping for a home match as much for the financial perks as for the home advantage.
"We are doing OK at the moment, but like all teams everyone is struggling for every penny they can get," said Osborne.
"We've have never played any of the teams in the draw before, so we will have to do our homework."
