A NEW, fully automated payment petrol station has opened in Caldicot, the first of its type for the Gulf franchise.

Motorists can only pay by card at the station in Newport Road, in the centre of Caldicot.

The station, which is on the site of the former, long-established Washbourne’s Garage opened on Friday afternoon,

It is run by Certas Energy under the Gulf brand and a member of staff was there over the weekend and on Monday explaining to drivers how the system works.

Motorists enter their payment details on a touchpad before fuel is dispensed.

The company says it is the first station of its type under the Gulf brand in the country.

It has also made a pledge to have the cheapest, high quality fuel in the area.
