MY wife and I moved to the lovely Forest of Dean two years ago and we are appalled at the amount of litter there is.
We go for a walk on a daily basis around our village. Each time we take a rubbish bag with us and collect all the litter we come across.
This can be beer tins, soft drink tins, cigarette packets, sweet wrappers, crisp bags, wipes and much more. It's a shame to see litter spoiling our lovely villages. We are not prudes or snobs. We just feel this is so unnecessary. It isn't hard to put your litter in your pocket until you see a bin or just take it home.
I presume local schools teach children the wrongs and rights about litter. So let's all see if we can do something about it.
Parents, don't throw litter down in front of your children, lead by example and bin it. If you see them drop litter tell them to pick it up. Adults, if you must have a can of beer when walking home, take the empty can home with you. Also adult smokers, put your empty cigarette packet in your pocket until you get home. None of this is such a hardship.
Have some pride in your village. Keep the Forest areas litter free. And, last of all, have some pride in yourself.
