I WRITE to you about the proposed cuts to some of our vital services.

Firstly, it seems madness to most of us that the Coleford TIC is under attack and named as one of the possible cost-cutting measures in the future.

This just as it has been modernised. The services it provides to the Forest are now on a par with any other TIC in the whole country.

As many of your readers have already stated with the pound now on a par with so many other countries, we are likely to see a huge increase in tourists. We need an attractive, helpful, modern tourism centre, not one privatised where the number one priority is to make a huge profit!

Secondly, I have had to use the services of the pest control department on a few occasions and value their help enormously.

Can I ask council members this:

Have any of you ever used these services?

Why don't members spend at least a day with the departments and staff concerned so that they can argue the case with first-hand knowledge and not just from an accountant's point of view? – Peter Colley (Local Green Badge Guide for 20 years)
