Re: Ian James' letter 'Book 'em!' With council coffers empty for employing dog wardens or enforcement officers, maybe Coleford Town Council could set up a volunteer dog warden scheme to help combat the dog mess problem and irresponsible dog ownership, similar to those set up in Ross on Wye, Leominster and Ledbury.

Ian could co-ordinate representatives from com­munity groups, schools, vets, and pet shops and volunteers can act as the eyes and ears for the official dog warden. Information can be collated and reports can be acted on.
