ONE of the most important days in the Christian calendar was marked with ‘walks of witness’ across the area.

The Good Friday walks, marking the crucifixion of Christ, included wooden crosses being carried through several towns, bringing together Christians of various denominations.

In Lydney, the walk started at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and finished with music and celebrations near the Co-op in Newerne Street with passers-by also being offered hot cross buns.

A hymn was sung outside the Brockweir and Hewelsfield community shop during the walk by members of the parish.

There were also walks from St Thomas’s Church in Monmouth and from St Mary’s Church in Caldicot while members of the Victory Church in Chepstow gave out Easter eggs.
