A RECENT Ofsted report has said Walmore Hill Primary School is a source of pride.
The report was well-received by headteacher, Brett Stevenson, who took over last summer and brought in new teaching staff.
He said: “This report is extremely positive so both teaching staff and pupils should be very proud that their hard work has been recognised by Ofsted.
“The improvements I’ve made to facilities and a more exciting and dynamic approach to teaching mean staff and pupils are highly motivated.
“Walmore Hill Primary is a credit to the community and a jewel in the Forest of Dean’s teaching crown. There is no other school in the country with a wildlife sanctuary on its doorstep or an educational history as rich as ours.”
Mr Stevenson took over the school when Ofsted rated it as ‘inadequate’. Today Ofsted states: “The improvements in teaching are inspiring pupils and making learning fun. Pupils behave well and want to do well. By working closely with families, leaders have improved pupils’ attendance.”
Ofsted rated the school ‘good’ in the following areas: effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and personal development, behaviour and welfare.
The school is affiliated to Blakeney and Pillowell Primary schools, where Mr Stevenson is head. Both schools are rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
