IT is with delight that I read in the Review of progress towards a possible wind turbine at Horage Farm near Neds Top.
This is especially poignant considering (according to BBC news this week) that there is a serious threat of energy shortages and possible blackouts by 2012. New major power stations (including nuclear) are unlikely to be producing power for at least ten years. A lack of a governmental credible energy strategy both now and previously have made this a real possibility.
More nuclear power stations with all their associated health and safety fears are a real possibility. Oldbury on Severn has been listed only this week as a serious potential site for additional nuclear power plant.
Not only can we be held to ransom by Russian gas suppliers but also Kazakhstan uranium mines.
Wind turbines can be erected (and dismantled) quickly and provide not only clean renewable energy but local jobs and income. My question for all the 46 local NIMBY's who objected and West Dean parish councilors, and this is a serious question is: do you want another nuclear power station at Oldbury, up-wind from Neds Top, or do you want a wind turbine? Or do you want no electricity?
The decision is yours but no to all is not an option. – George Eno (Oldcroft).

WE hear and read a lot about the bad things in life.
But when I fell over and broke my wrist in Lydney Co-op car park on Tuesday February 2, the help and care I received was heart-warming. Two staff of the Co-op brought out a brolly to keep the rain off me while I waited for the ambulance, which arrived in about five minutes. The police also arrived shortly after and were very helpful.
To the chap who phoned for the ambulance, the woman who I lent against and told me to breathe deeply, another woman lent a rug to keep me warm, and a couple of others who showed concern: Thank-you all... much appreciated. – Mrs Janet Morris, Woolaston.
