I WOULD like to compliment the Review for printing Dr Daphne Pearson's letters. She is a great defender of right and does a wonderful job keeping an eye on those at the Taj Mahal.
Regarding the so-called cabinet, this, in my view, was Cllr Winship's way of dictating to the whole council. As Dr Pearson commented, the cabinet is not working or, for that matter, anything else regarding councillors.
Can I ask what district councillors are doing about the 80 year-old man who went to pay the dreaded council tax only to find some bright spark would not accept his cash. Why, and on who's authority? Does it not say: 'I promise to pay the bearer' and to refuse is breaking the law.
Where is Mark Harper in all this? Is this not the duty of district councillors to prevent fulltime council employees from running roughshod over the public?
I also note Dr Pearson's mention of the so-called Forest Blues. I am surprised Norman Stephens allows these renegade Tories to use the independants as a shelter.
I believe the only thing Norman is interested in is planning and the only true independent is Andrew Gardiner who for many years was 'non aligned'. With hindsight he was right. All these so-called Blues have something in common. They are all Conservatives and in this I include Norman Stephens. Perhaps Norman would take on leadership of the council. – Mike Meredith Edwards, Sling, Coleford.
