TWO cars were filled up with gifts for a local women’s refuge – thanks to the members of the Royal Forest of Dean Inner Wheel.

The ladies wrapped gifts they had collected over the year during its December meeting at Forest Hills Golf Club for the Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Service (GDAS).

This year they have excelled and Helen Freeman, who liaises directly with the GDAS, reported that the ladies from the support groups turned up in force and were overwhelmed with the donation.

Among the gifts was a large box of hair products and toiletries, 115 parcels for children aged between three and 12 and 120 parcels for ladies.

There were also over 100 parcels wrapped by members who were not able to attend the meeting.

Sally Taylor, Inner Wheel President, said: “The evening was such fun and a great start to Christmas; the ladies really look forward to it. It was amazing how much was achieved in only a few hours. Well done to everyone for all your efforts.”

The group’s next meeting is this Thursday (January 14) at Forest Hills from 6.30pm with guest speaker Mark Cummings from BBC Radio Gloucestershire. For details contact Sally Taylor at: [email protected].
