CERAMIC artist Mary Rose Young is famed for her bold use of colour – and not just for her pottery.

Mary Rose is selling her home and studio at The Folly in Parkend to live out her dream of having somewhere with a lettings room.

She said: "For a while now I have wanted to move to a premises which I can share with the public. I love the idea of moving somewhere like the Courtfield Arms pub in Lydbrook - which is up for sale – and having a café, lettings room and pottery room. When you move into a new home it's a blank canvas and I would love to design rooms in colours that would worsen the hangover of guests staying overnight. The Courtfield Arms ticks all the boxes for me, the building and setting are lovely and it's affordable as well as local."

Over the last 25 years, Mary Rose has decorated her £495,000 home to reflect her unique, 'in-your-face' personality. The three-bed period cottage even has a 'tent' room resembling that of a middle-eastern themed harem and a bathroom awash in vibrant red floral tiles.

"Obviously my home is very colourful and I think an art enthusiast would appreciate it. It has lots of potential and is in a lovely area. People have got wind of my news quickly and I have even had national interest in my home. It's all very exciting. I have lots of plans but there's nothing worse than when a plan goes stale due to a lack of interest. I am excited to see what response I get."
