THIS is the mess residents in Yorkley say the wild boar are creating on a daily basis because landlords won’t create a more secure refuse area.

A fed-up Two Rivers Housing tenant, who did not wish to be named, says she has even cancelled her son’s 5th birthday party because she is too embarrassed about the mess near her back garden in Morris Close.

She said: “It looks awful and the smell is even worse, especially when it is hot. The affected area is communal for the residents in the flats and is somewhere they can store their rubbish. The area is fenced and gated but the boar seem to just continue to break in at ease and over-turn the bins.

“Not only does it look unsightly but it is a health and safety issue. The problem has been ongoing for the last six weeks and the only way I can think of resolving it is Two Rivers creating a more secure area.

“It’s thought the boar are breaking in during the night.”

A spokesperson for Two Rivers Housing Association said: “We understand the frustration of residents in Yorkley, particularly as we already have a fence around the bin area in Morris Close. We will be extending this in the hope it strengthens our defences against the boar and helps to prevent further occurrences.

“This problem is not unique to Yorkley and many people across the Forest will be experiencing similar issues. We always try to report these incidents to the Forestry Commission, which monitors boar-related activity, and we encourage others to do the same.”

Two Rivers say they cleared the rubbish within hours of the original complaint being made.
