WESTBURY-on-Severn Carnival on Sunday was a brilliant day, according to Jan d’Ambrogio, who helped to organise the event.
She said: “It took three days to set up and one day to take it all down, so it was so great to see so many people come along to support us. The sun shone and we had loads of fun.”
Westbury junior rugby club were there and Chepstow Community Big band played, as did Life of Reilly, a barn-dancing ceilidh band from Coleford. Vertus Sword School from Newnham gave a demonstration and The Lawmen brought the history of the Wild West to Westbury.
Jan, who is chair of the parish hall, added: “The fire brigade, the police and St John Ambulance brought their vehicles along and the flower and produce show was a real success. It’s in its third year and is definitely growing as we had loads of entries this year. We had a pig roast, a tea tent and barbecue, face painting, loads of craft stalls and a tombola. Shane the Showman entertained the crowds and we even had Roaming Reptiles from Ross-on-Wye.
“We’d all really like to thank everyone who took part and who helped behind the scenes. Dan Long, chair of the carnival committee did a sterling job. There was so much going on and so many people involved that it’s impossible to thank everyone individually. We had loads and loads of lovely people who came along on the day - it makes all the hard work worth while.”
