I CAN remember walking to the churchyard here in Newnham years ago and getting a glimpse of the windmill blades at Nympsfield and thinking what an inspiring sight it was – creating energy for free as I am sure it still is.
Windmills, I feel, can be a visual enhancement to the landscape. I would rather see a windmill than those dodgy nuclear lumps on the other side of the river, which we will never be free of.
Berkeley is apparently now storing nuclear waste, with plans to introduce new plants at Hinckley Point and Oldbury at great cost and without end to safety concerns.
Water is also a source of free energy and it can be used time after time as it has been historically alongside windpower.
Keep those blades turning where we can see them. Nuclear will always cost us financially and will also cost the earth.
Think of your children's future. Don't be selfish and shortsighted hoping for a Green future.
