A LIGHT banket of snow covered the Forest on Monday morning, as many people returned to work and school after the winter break.
The wintry scene is predicted to continue at least until the weekend.
The weather is expected to warm up a little by Monday although there will still be a risk of frost at night.
On Monday this week Woolaston School sent home children in years three, five and six because of heating problems, but many schools had planned a training day and were not planning to go back until Tuesday.
A gritting lorry overturned in the snow in Ruspidge blocking Tramway Road.
Gloucestershire Highways had teams out from midnight gritting all the primary roads in the county.
Once these roads were gritted the teams were sent back out to treat the secondary routes, and stayed out for most of the day.
Gloucestershire Highways is encouraging people to take extra care when driving if more snow falls.
Cllr Julie Girling, lead cabinet member for environment, said: "While the snow may look pretty it can be dangerous and I would encourage everyone to take extra care when driving in poor weather conditions."
