A MAJOR film company has shown an interest in using one of the Forest's industrial sites as a movie set for up to six months.
Historic Lydbrook wire works site at Stowfield went on the market two weeks ago, with rents set at about 75p a square foot subject to long to medium term lease agreements.
The huge site, owned by the Vaughan family from Welsh Bicknor, offers a range of industrial buildings from 10,000 square foot to 5,000 square foot. Opportunities range from manufacturing to storage, not to mention access to an extraordinary Art Deco-style boardroom.
Tom Parry of Parry Commercial said: "Yes, we've had quite a lot of interest. One company is interested in using the entire site as a film set. A major feature film. They'd want to use the whole site as it is for between five and six months."
It's not Dr Who... and the suggestion is it's way beyond that. But full details of who the film company is, or what film is being planned, remain confidential. Other interest has also been shown in a range of the industrial units.
As a result Parry Commercial are doing a series of walkabouts/open days. The first is on April 7, from 9am to 1pm, followed by April 12, from 2pm to 5pm.
