ANYONE driving around the Forest over the past few days may have been puzzled by the appearance of large numbers of grey bin-bags sitting on the roadside verges.

Bemused readers at first speculated that careless, or thoughtless, picnickers had been disposing of their rubbish on the roadsides, possibly in the hope that a passing refuse truck would collect them.

One younger reader came up with her own theory – we have Wombles!

But the truth is that a dedicated team from Biffa waste management have been busy cleaning the forest of 'an absolutely huge' amount of rubbish.

The team, Rob and Roger, were caught on camera on Tuesday morning as they began to clear the bin sacks from the roadsides in the Cannop Valley from Parkend to Pygmy Pinetum. Their haul included lorry tyres, along with a growing mountain of tins and bottles.
