A MISTAKE in the authoritative Yellow Book (which lists open garden days around the country) might mean visitors to Longhope's open garden weekend could miss out.

Annie Frost tells us that the gardens are listed as being open from 2pm to 6pm this coming weekend (June 11 and 12).

In fact they're open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and 2pm to 6pm only on the Sunday.

"It would be such a pity for people to miss out on the morning and to have to try to rush around in the afternoon," says Annie.

Longhope's open garden events have been spectacularly successful in recent years, helped by the fact that the small villages sits in a valley with great views and boasts a 12th Century church.

Six well-planted gardens are open this year including:

•Breenes, owned by garden designers and planted for impact.

•3 Church Road, a long narrow garden divided into a series of 'rooms'.

•Court Leet (pictured) a 17th Century house with a densely planted cottage garden containing over 100 old and English roses.

Teas will be available at Breenes and 3 Church Road, and there will be plants for sale.
