A NEW group has started walking for health at Yorkley, joining a growing list of health walking groups throughout the Forest.
The group met at Yorkley Village Hall (the Institute) at 10.30 am and will meet there each Wednesday at the same time from now on.
"We were led by a qualified volunteer walk leader on a delightful walk through the Forest to Danby Lodge and back and finished with a refreshing cup of tea and plenty of chatter!" said a spokesman.
"There is plenty of room for as many as would like to join us. We are a really friendly bunch of all ages and abilities and would welcome anyone who feels like being sociable whilst getting all the obvious health benefits that walking brings."

One of the new walkers who came along last Wednesday was June Pugh (front right in the photo) who said "For myself, the walk means I get some exercise and fresh air in the company of other people and a chance to chat afterwards.
"A lot of people would like to walk, but are nervous about walking on their own, especially older women like me. Also, 'walking for health' is not too strenuous, so is ideal for those not used to walking. And of course, you get a nice cup of tea and biscuits afterwards!"
