IT'S funny how fortune can change, reflects Yorkley manager Mark Hudson. Young and out of luck his team were thrashed almost every week last season. This term they can't put a foot wrong!

"Suddenly it has all started to work. We lost our first game of the season to Newnham, drew the second game, and ever since we have won everything," said Hudson.

"I'm very pleased. We had a real struggle to stay up but now we are top of the league and can't stop scoring," he says.

Hudson believes Yorkley hit the nail on the head when they decided to stick with an influx of young players. It looked ominous when more experienced sides were handing out good hidings to the Yorkley boys, but now the boot is on the other foot.

"It has all worked out well and now we have a team with six or seven young players who have combined superbly with the more experienced boys," he said.

Saturday's overwhelming victory brought another couple of goals for top scorer Nial Halford and while the young Harrow Hill side never surrendered they leaked a further seven goals to Joel Lesperance (2) Kevin Pegler, Christopher Howard, Ollie Leslie and

newcomer Andrew Howells who was making his debut having switched from neighbouring Whitecroft.

Hudson also had words of praise for goalkeeper Dave Ventris-Field who travels each week from Gloucester. "He's an excellent player who is probably too good for this level but he's a Yorkley boy and we are pleased he still travels here to play every week," he said.

Hudson said the players also wanted to wish a speedy recovery from illness to their president and sponsor Ken Howard.
