FANCY acting in an epic?

If so turn up at Chepstow's Drill Hall on Sunday and you could find yourself pencilled in for a part in this year's son et lumiere event 'Most Loyal Knight' being staged at the castle in July.

Seventy people signed up at last Sunday's audition and more are needed, says Ned Heywood.

"What we are looking for is commitment. If someone wants to get involved we will make a part for them. This is a community event and that is what this is all about," he said.

Ned is particularly looking for men aged between 16 and 30 who fancy their chances as knights.

"It's a wonderful chance to perform before 1,500 people and you don't even have to learn lines. There are no speaking parts as the show works to a recorded soundtrack," he said.

Commitment is the key. Actors need to be available every Sunday from May onwards for rehearsals. They will also be needed for dress rehearsals in July as well as the nights of the performance.

The last show, 'Echoes in the Stones' at Tintern Abbey was a huge success with capacity audiences for the nine performances and hundreds more unable to get tickets.

Buoyed up by the achievement over 100 who took part have already signed up to become involved again, but there are opportunities for dozens more actors and production volunteers.

"For anyone who has wanted to give acting a go this is a dream. There are parts for everyone - from mischievous children, elegant damsels, village folk and pious monks to swashbuckling knights. For those looking for that extra bit of excitement there are plenty of action scenes and stage fighting training will be given."

For those who prefer to be out of the limelight, prop and costume makers, make-up artists, graphic designers, photographers and others are also wanted.

Sunday's audition is at the Drill Hall from 2pm to 5pm.
