STEVE Duddridge fulfilled every soccer fan's fantasy when he pulled on his heroes' shirt for real.
Die-hard Tottenham fan Steve played the second half in the famous Lilywhites' shirt for a Spurs Legends' side in a charity match at Caldicot Town's Jubilee Way ground.
They were there to take on Wilkinson's Magor Select XI in a match organised by Steve in aid of the Sparkle Appeal which runs the Serennau Centre for children with complex and special needs in Newport.
In a game which proved old pros never lose that competitive instinct, the home side ran out 4-1 winners.
The scorers were Richard Hudson, who curled a first-half free kick around the Spurs wall to beat the keeper for the first of his two, Stephen Lane and Nick Windley.
Mark Falco grabbed a consolation goal for the stars.
The Wilkinson Select played in Newport County's colours – which must have been disconcerting for Exiles' manager Justin Edinburgh who joined fellow Spurs legends on the pitch.
Mark Crook, who manages Welsh League Division Two side Undy Athletic, turned out for Wilkinson.
Man-of-the-match was Rob Ainley, a former Newport County player who now works for Wilkinson.
Before the game there was a minute's silence in memory of Milija Aleksic, Spurs's keeper in the 1981 FA Cup Final, who died in Johannesburg earlier this month.
Most of the rest of the team have played in the Gwent County League and work for Wilkinson at the Magor distribution depot.
The game was sponsored by Wilkinson's with assistance from HHF Finance and Sam's Motion Music.
Thanks also went to Caldicot Town for providing match day facilities and food.
