AFTER four rained-off games in a row Chepstow's fourth XI finally got their league campaign underway with a win on Sunday.
The home side chased down the 147 needed with 4.2 overs to spare and three wickets intact.
Jonathan Huws (49) and Tudor Morgan-Huggett (49) were the star men with the bat despite both falling just one short of their half-centuries. They put on 86 for the first wicket.
The middle order failed to fire but an explosive 18 not out from number six Justin Thornhill was enough to see them through.
Put into bat the visitors had earlier got off to a flying start reaching 76 for the first wicket.
But from there Chepstow did well to restrict them to 146-9 from their 45 overs with batting heroes Jon Huws 3-18 and Tudor Morgan-Huggett 2-24 also the pick of the bowlers.
