LYDNEY Town under-10s rounded off a successful league with a 3-1 win.

After only losing one game all year in the league, the boys were under pressure to keep up their winning streak against Bishops Cleeve at Cheltenham Town FC.

Lydney were putting Cleeve under a lot of pressure but Cleeve were hitting town on the break on the odd occasion – but captain Aston Jeffs and James Roberts were quick to nullify any attack.

The breakthrough came when Mac Dickinson secured the town's first goal after great work from Bailey James.

Louis Callus burst through the Cleeve defence and with a sublime finish lifted the ball over the advancing Cleeve keeper to make it 0-2.

Charlie Nyland and Toby Bendall came on and put in great shifts.

Into the second half, Cleeve started to give town a few problems. Jack Stewart pulled off a fantastic and very brave save to deny the Cleeve striker - and injured his shoulder in doing so – Cleeve now had their tails up and were pushing hard for a goal – which did eventually come 1-2.

With minutes remaining Louis Callus stepped up to smash the ball into the roof of the net to make the final score 1-3.

Aston Jeffs lifted the trophy to a full main stand and man of the match went to Rory Davis.

Manager Glyn Callus and assistants Steve Jeffs and Steve Roberts thanked all of its supporters and, most of all, the players for a great and successful season.
