LOCAL ceramic artist Mary Rose Young launched a four week exhibition on Sunday to celebrate her 30th anniversary in the business.
Mary's colourful style has attracted admirers worldwide and her Secret Forest of Dean range has put the Forest on the map.
The Three Decades Show features a special range of unique anniversary pieces as well as some "retro" pieces reviving the spirit of her earliest pottery designs. There was also a picture display telling the story of the last 30 years.
Mary started her first pottery workshop at Mutloes Farm in Littledean in 1983 and two years later she went to The Chelsea Crafts Show. Afterwards two large famous stores, Harvey Nichols and Barneys New York bought her work.
In the early nineties, she moved to Parkend and her work was published in an interiors magazine for the first time.
In 1993, she exhibited in Frankfurt for the first time and soon found a market opening up in Switzerland and Germany. Her first TV appearance in 1998 was soon followed by more high street interest and her highly successful range of name mugs.
In 2003, Ozzy Osbourne casually picked up one of Mary Rose's cups and saucers during his reality TV show which fuelled more celebrity interest from the likes of Steven Tyler and Pele in 2010.
Kate Delpinto helps decorate and run the gallery. She said: "The day went extremely well and we sold a lot of commemorative pieces which people like to add to their collection. The picture display was a particular favourite too. We hope that more people continue coming along to support us."
The exhibition is on daily from 10am except Saturday.
