A WOMAN was beaten after being knocked to the floor by an unknown attacker whilst out walking her dog in Coleford last week.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault, which took place at Bells Field Recreational Park at around 6.40am last Monday (January 24)

The woman was out walking in the park when she was "struck" from behind and fell to the floor.

The attacker then proceeded to kick her in the face and body whilst she was on the ground.

She sustained facial injuries and bruising to her side in the attack

Her dog was also kicked during the incident, but did not sustain any injuries.

Police said it is unknown what the attacker hit her with when she was initially struck from behind.

The victim reported the assault to the police, who conducted enquiries in the area but were unable to find anyone who saw what happened.

Officers are asking for any witnesses to come forward to aid their investigation.
