LYDNEY Town Hall rang with the sound of voices this weekend, as Forest Musical Society presented their show Evolution of Music.

Chair of the society, Elliott Burge said: “The show was a celebration of 100 years of music from World War One through to the present day. Over 20 of our members took part and sang numbers including Mack the Knife, The Trammps Disco Inferno, She Loves You by The Beatles and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. We finished with David Bowie’s Heroes, as we raised over £80 for Help for Heroes.

“We have around 45 members ranging in age from primary school pupils to senior citizens and we had a new production team for this show. The producer was James Gough, Jacqui Turley directed and the musical director was Tim Murray. Everything went very smoothly across all three shows.

“We’re meeting again soon, to begin preparations for our next show. We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2017 and will present music from the movies in the New Year.”
