A £600 donation to the Forest Upcycling project in Chepstow will make work easier for volunteers.

The project, which includes training young people with skills needed for full-time employment, has bought professional-quality tools with the money donated by the Lions Club of Chepstow and Caldicot.

The main part of the project recycles furniture but it also runs a gardening service and the donation has been used to buy equipment such as a chainsaw and a multi-tool.

The Lions first became involved with Forest Upcycling when the project was suggested to member John Bennett who needed work done on his garden.

He said: “They did an outstanding job and with what Forest Upcycling is trying to achieve it was something the Lions wanted to support.”

A hand-over ceremony was held at Forest Upcycling Chepstow base in Station Road.

Chepstow and Caldicot Lions meet on the third Wednesday of each month, usually at the Dewstow golf club in Caldicot.
