A FARMER'S work is round the clock, not nine to five.
Many years ago when I was chairman of St Briavels Parish Council, we entered the Bledisloe Cup. The judges came to me because they could not find the war memorial.
I explained to them that it was at the playing field gates and they said you really should have it marked.
I went back to the council and told them what the Bledisloe Cup judges were concerned about.
Mr Baker, who was the farmer concerned in last week's letter (Review June 24, 2011, 'Law is an ass') and is a long-serving councillor, promptly jumped up and said 'I will pay for that plaque to go on the playing field gates'.
He very promptly had this done and we won the Bledisloe Cup. That's the sort of man Mr Baker is. He must be applauded that he went to his cows in distress and didn't stay at the council meeting.
