A TAG rugby team trained by all female coaches became the first Forest school to get through the finals of the South West Regional Tournament.

The squad from Severnbanks Primary School showed early signs of promise by winning the Forest finals at Hartpury, taking them through to the South West Tournament for Tag 2 Twickenham which was played at Taunton School.

Headteacher, Pam Howell, says: "The all female coaching team were then supported by PC Neil Evans with extra training sessions before the big event. Severnbanks School team were the first Forest team to ever get this far."

On the day, the team played seven games, winning two, drawing two and losing three.

"As you can imagine, all the teams who took part were of an exceptionally high standard and some fantastic rugby was played. The children behaved impeccably and worked fantastically as a team despite the awful weather conditions."
