WENDY Corum's letters, published and appreciated in the local press for many years, always say something positive, worthwhile and truthful. She is sensible and fair-minded.

Desperation doesn't come into it, and I take it she writes to all the local papers in a lottery spirit. You may get published, someone influential may adopt your ideas. A lot of us keep on trying!

Mrs Trimple's first letter shows that she doesn't understand the issue. As a shopkeeper, would she like someone selling the same range of goods to aquire land bang next to her business by dubious means, set up in trade and use her own dedicated access and parking? Of course not!

But would she be generous enough to look for a compromise which would benefit the community, as the Co-op is trying to do in Cinderford? Well, I wonder.

There is a Tesco in Coleford if she lives there, with a wide range of goods. Last Monday morning at just after nine, there was a queue of more than half a dozen at the single front checkout, and around 20 were dealt with at the Post Office counter. Why does she not shop there? – Sylvia Mills.
