THE Forest's newly formed Scream Team, made up of five women who've all had experience of cancer, have successfully raised more than £2,500 in their first 'Frighting for Cancer' night.

The Scream Team teamed up with Forest Paranormal Investigators (FPI) for a night long vigil in a dark cellar at Woodchester Manor, near Stroud, in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Helen Brown, one of the Scream Team, says it was such a success they're now planning to make it a yearly event.

"It was a fantastic night and a complete sell out. Thank you for all of those who bought tickets. It was a very interesting evening and I'm sure our guests got the full 'ghost hunting' experience.

"A massive thank you must go to all the local businesses from Coleford, Monmouth and surrounding areas who donated prizes for our raffle which raised £1,000 alone. And thank you to the local businesses who donated much needed food for refreshments on the night – everyone has been incredibly generous."

Paula Meek of FPI which celebrates its first anniversary this Halloween and has scored 200,000 hits on their website, says: "The team and their guests encountered many unusual goings on throughout the night.

"These included temperature fluctuations, cold spots, electromagnetic spikes and electronic voice phenomena, disembodied voices recorded on digital voice recording equipment that are said to be the discarnate voices of the unrested dead.

"Some of the guests were 'lucky' enough to take part in Forest Paranormal's own version of their infamous lone vigil, locked in the creepy lower floor cellar with just a camera, walkie talkie and the Mansion's ghosts for company for as long as they could hold their nerve. The record for the night stood at just 45 seconds!"
