HERE we go again, yet another sprat to catch a mackerel.

The first thing to catch my eye in the latest Co-op

proposal is that the health centre is shown as being

further away from the town centre and Boots the

Chemist, but still close to their own pharmacy.

Secondly, the library and the community hall are

both very close to the Co-op Food Store. I would think

the retail outlets they show would be for their own

chemist, perhaps one for electrical goods and others for

Co-op Travel, Dorothy Perkins and, of course, a funeral

director.

As you can see they intend to put a path in to bypass

most of the shops still trading in Cinderford. Talk about

kicking people when they are down!

You must ask yourself who is going to pay for all this

work. I can guess.

Like a lot of other people I shop around. I like the

Co-op deli counter and the staff. I think it is the best. But

as for the rest, it's not so good and rather expensive.

What I spend on food is spread around.

We badly need a clothes shop in Cinderford, a fairly

priced one. And let's have a market in the town centre,

putting back much needed cash. People miss the Friday

market.

I think we have enough chip shops and cafes. Let's

create a centre to attract people to come to shop and

spend money in other shops and not just the Co-op.

Maybe if the market was to come back into the town

centre the Co-op would also return to where it used to

be.

I think we have had enough of the arguing between

the big boys.

I do not think that what the Co-op has drawn will

work. People like me will still spend our money in other

shops because we search for the best deal we can get. But

it would be nice if we did not have to travel so far to do

so.

Hopefully the planning people will see through this

pretty, colourful drawing to see what is really going on. –
