WAITING lists, yes waiting, waiting and more waiting!
To apply for a social house I understand you have to bid for them! What idiot thought this was the best way to allocate housing?
People from all other areas can also apply. We have desperate local people who need our Forest homes before outsiders who, very cleverly, make themselves top of the list by moving into accommodation that is far too small for them or by moving in with family or friends making them appear overcrowded.
I agree with Alan Preest who asked for the verification of the local connection clause criteria where people are assessed for social housing according to whether they have a local connection. There are too many council homes going to the wrong people.
This bidding system is wrong and rubbish!
I have first-hand information of a young mother of five children who has been on the waiting list for years. Having recently become a single parent she found herself having to find rented accommodation and having to borrow money to cover a bond and two months' rent in advance.
She finds this has taken her way down the waiting list with no hope of moving up. It doesn't seem to matter that she is depressed and in need of help from family who she would love to live closer to.
Her parents were council tenants and so were her grandparents. Does anyone care any more about our Forest people, our Forest homes? No, I don't think so! No wonder the house waiting list is soaring!
