READING your article about the speed limit on the A48 Chepstow road bridge I would like to congratulate the pupils from Wyedean School on their peristance on this very important matter.
I have given my full suport to them as their District Councillor for the Forest of Dean.
My main concern as well as the 30mph is that people are still crossing the A48 at the St Mary's Church traffic lights to go into the Tesco store.
I have contacted Tesco and the local County Councillor but to no avail. This to me is an accident waiting to happen!
What is needed is for Tesco to extend their boundary fence along the A48 to stop people using this short cut to their store. There is an underpass which the highways put in for this purpose, unfortunately pedestrians do not use.
While I support 100 per cent the 30 speed limit, this to me is a more important issue as the same school children cross the road to the store.
